Lakshmi Puja became even more meaningful this year as six incredible young women—our real-life Maa Lakshmis—came forward to donate their hair for cancer patients. Their compassion, determination, and willingness to bring comfort to others truly embody the spirit of this sacred day.
🌸 The Story Behind Today’s Beautiful Act
For a long time, residents of Tikarbeth, Jaydev (Kenduli) — Moumita Mehetri, her sister Sushmita Mehetri, and their friend Baishakhi Kabiraj — wanted to donate their hair to support cancer patients who lose their hair during treatment. However, they could not find the right opportunity.
When they came across the Spandan Foundation Facebook page, they immediately contacted us with heartfelt enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, from Shirsar Bari, Jaydev (Kenduli), Samapti Dhibor and Madhuporni Da also reached out to express their wish to donate their hair.
Honouring their beautiful intentions, Spandan Foundation members Rana and Shubho travelled to Jaydev (Kenduli) today to collect the hair donations and meet these inspiring young women.
At the same time, we received a call from Riya Das Bairagya of Debgram, near Kirnahar — an active and dedicated member of Spandan Foundation. She, too, fulfilled her long-cherished wish to donate her hair on this auspicious Lakshmi Puja.
