For every parent, a child is the center of love, affection, and endless dreams. From the very moment a child is born, a new world begins to form around them. In today’s generation, children grow up seeing their friends celebrate birthdays with grand decorations, cakes, gifts, and parties. Naturally, they too dream of such celebrations filled with excitement and surprises.
But society is changing. Many parents today are choosing a different, more meaningful way to celebrate their children’s special day. Instead of lavish parties, they wish to teach their children the joy of sharing and the value of kindness. And for that, they choose to celebrate birthdays with children in orphanages or with people in need. Parents who make this choice truly deserve admiration — because they are raising children who will grow up with empathy and compassion.
Kirnahar residents Ananda Roy and his wife Anushree Biswas Roy wanted to celebrate their twin sons’ — Akash and Abhishek’s — 10th birthday in a special, heartfelt manner. Ananda, a private tutor and an active member of Spandan Foundation, always stands beside our social initiatives. A few days before the birthday, he contacted Spandan Foundation’s Secretary Rana Das and shared his wish to celebrate the day with children living in an orphanage, and also to donate essential items.
Following this noble request, Spandan Foundation arranged a visit to Sonarandi Sanandadham Orphanage in Murshidabad district. The family, along with our team, distributed essential groceries and shared snacks such as cake, chocolates, chips, fruits, and sweets with the children. The joy on the children’s faces made the celebration truly special.
We salute parents like Ananda and Anushree — they set an inspiring example for society. Celebrations become far more meaningful when shared with those who need love and support.
